Weather and Lockdown Compliance

The effectiveness of containment measures depends on both epidemiological and sociological mechanisms, most notably compliance with national lockdown rules. Yet, there is growing discontent social distancing rules in many countries, which expected to intensify further during summer. Using a highly granular dataset over 105,000 individuals the United Kingdom (UK), we find that policies tends be high overall population, but specific segments society are substantially less compliant. Our findings show warmer temperatures decrease non-compliance governmental guidelines who male, divorced, part-time employed, and/or parent more than two children. Thus, as long heard immunity through vaccination not achieved new strains demand remain place, understanding individual determinants behaviour different seasons year will important for policymakers design effective future.
